Meet Our Elementary School Leaders

Early Years & Elementary Principal

I am deeply honored and excited to introduce myself as the new Principal of RAS EYES. While many of you already know me from my journey that began here in 2018 as a third-grade teacher, followed by roles as Academic Coordinator and Vice Principal, I am humbled to now serve our community in this new capacity. Throughout my time at Raffles, I have developed a deep understanding of our school’s culture, values, and the unique needs of our students and staff.

As your principal, I am committed to maintaining our high academic standards, fostering an inclusive learning environment, and strengthening the partnership between school and families. I look forward to collaborating with our entire school community as we continue to build upon the strong foundation that makes RAS special.

Elementary Vice Principal

Hello, my name is Clara Southerland. I am excited to begin my second year at Raffles American School, transitioning from Vice-Principal for Early Years and Kindergarten to the same role for Grades 1-4. I look forward to working closely with our amazing teachers, students, and families in the primary grades.

Before joining Raffles, I was Director of Teaching and Learning at an international school in Spain, where I worked with diverse educators to implement innovative teaching strategies. I also helped establish a Primary English School in Macau as instructional coach and department chair for mathematics and general studies.

My career started in the United States as a classroom teacher and later as an instructional coach and staff development teacher, focusing on supporting teachers growth and improving instructional practices.

I believe strongly in empowering educators because their success leads to better student learning. Im eager to continue this work at Raffles and look forward to a year of collaboration and growth.

Clara Elizabeth Southerland

Elementary Vice Principal
